Christian Icons
We have a cross, reportedly from a French monastery that closed, that’s said to hold a fragment of the original Cross. In the very beautiful reliquary in the center is a sacred heart, and at the point of the sacred heart is a small white fragment. That is said to be a fragment from the original Cross. A relic of that caliber should have documentation from the Church to substantiate it, and we don’t have such documentation so I can’t prove that it’s real. But it inspires people, which is what’s most important any way. And, for what it’s worth, virtually every psychic who’as examined it has felt that it was genuine.
On the kneeler, we have holy water from Lourdes on the left, from Fatima on the right. On the right there are two small medallions from Medjugorje. There’s another one in a Lourdes font on the window edge. That is a place where Mary is believed to have appeared. On a small white pedestal, we have three Padre Pio relics and some Padre Pio holy oil. He was named a saint just last year or the year before. We always offer people the opportunity to use the water and oil, and touch the relics.
In the corner, we have Russian Orthodox icons painted on nesting dolls. There are 29 layers and the smallest one has a candle painted on it. So that’s the flame of faith that ends up in the heart. These are revered, loved by pretty much everyone, especially women, regardless of traditions. We’ve even had Chinese Buddhist nuns that are very attracted to this. There is something very feminine about the shape. It’s very womb-like and like having a child within and going down through the layers of onion to get to the center.
Muslim Items
In this room we also have a magnificent, handwritten Koran from 1873. That’s the Muslim Bible. Also, we have a Koran from 1873 - the Muslim Bible. Muslims believe the Koran is the word of God as communicated to Mohammed through the Angel Gabriel over a 23 year period. Mohammed was a great and courageous man. He was born into a world where each tribe worshiped its own gods. The Angel Gabriel came to him and asked him to accept that there was one God, and he accepted this. He slowly gathered followers, first meeting in his home. Many resisted him and he and his followers were subjected to persecution and even warfare. Against overpowering odds, he and his followers prevailed in that war, and within just a few years more he’d united the entire Arabian Peninsula under this religion. It’s considered sacrilegious to profit from the sale of the word of God, so Korans of this vintage are sold only very quietly - we’re lucky to have it.
Jewish Items
In the other corner, we have a Jewish Torah cover, hanging on the wall. This is the kind of cover that is placed over the Torah, which is the first 5 books of the Old Testament in the Judaic form. We have a menorah from Jerusalem and a shofar, which is a ritual horn that they use. Incidentally, in another room we have a Tibetan conch horn that sounds almost identical.
In most of our rooms, we’ve tried to divide the altar pieces from the things that are for sale. Having them together was confusing to people and it was confusing energetically. So now in each room, for the most part, you’ll find that one side of the room is dedicated to altar pieces and the other is dedicated to things that are for sale. And even those things that are for sale, it should be understood, are sacred items. Everything that’s for sale is something that we chose because we feel it can be of benefit to people spiritually. Everything can be just as sacred as any other altar piece. |
